ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVISTS FROM NORTHERN BELARUS LEARN HOW TO MONITOR SMALL RIVERS

In the middle of November, members of school ecological clubs and ecological posts, which had been recently created in Vitebsk region in northern Belarus, learned in the town of Sharkovschina how to conduct research on water contamination and about the importance of small rivers and lakes for bigger ecosystems and for improving quality of life. The training was conducted within the framework of the project Small Rivers – Big Challenges that is now being implemented in Vitebsk region by Interakcia Foundation, several local governments, and another Belarusian NGO thanks to the funding provided by the European Union.

A SEMINAR ON USING NEWEST COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN TOURISM TAKES PLACE IN THE OLDEST BELARUSIAN CITY OF POLOTSK

The seminar was conducted on October 16-17 and attracted dozens of managers working in private and state travel agencies and other organizations providing tourism and travel-related services in Vitebsk region, northern Belarus (where Polotsk is also located). It was the second seminar on communication issues conducted thanks to the project Bella Dvina 2 that brings together Belarusian, Lithuanian, and Latvian state and non-state organizations aiming to foster cross-border tourism between the neighboring countries. The project is funded by the European Union, and Interakcia is coordinating its implementation in Belarus.
