More than 300 towns and cities from Eastern Partnership countries committed themselves to reduce harmful emissions to the atmosphere. How they are doing it and what results they have already achieved? It will be discussed with the experts from 6 countries during the conference “Covenant of Mayors: cooperation between local and authorities in Eastern Partnership countries” on December 13-14.
Representatives of European Commission, Eastern Partnership countries ministries and departments, civic organizations, international financial institutions, mayors from Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine are among the speakers of the conference.
Which results signatories of the “Covenant of Mayors” have already achieved in the Eastern Partnership countries? How Covenant of Mayors is developed in Belarus? What awaits the initiative in future? Where to find the sources of financing for energy efficient projects and how to realize them? Answers for these questions will be found with the experts during presentations and discussions. Event will gather about 150 participants.
Also representatives of Belarusian cities and towns will solemnly sign the Declaration on joining the “Covenant of Mayors” initiative during the conference. There are 31 Belarusian local government bodies that committed themselves to reduce carbon dioxide emissions to 20% and 30%
“Covenant of Mayors: cooperation between local and authorities in Eastern Partnership countries” conference is organized by EU programme “Covenant of Mayors - Demonstration projects”, EU project “Covenant of Mayors - East”, Energy Efficiency Department of the Republic of Belarus. “Covenant of Mayors - Demonstration Projects” programme and “Covenant of Mayors - East” project are financed by the European Union.
