Around 300 infrastructural objects in Volozhin district were inspected from March to August 2016. The group of experts included specialists in architecture and building, social workers, volunteers with the help of agroland owners, representatives of executive committee and non-governmental organisations. Earlier, they participated in the training and came to know the main aspects of barrier-free environment. The results of the monitoring are availbale at the link.
"Large-scale work of specialists has received a high professional asessement, and 200-pages document is clear for either builder or project owner." - Iryna Ivanova, Project Manager of Interakcia Foundation said.
Primarly, specialists inspected building that tourist with disabilities can use. There are objects of transport infrastructure, local authorities bulidings, objects of social services (post oficces, banks, etc.) and 18 agrolands in the list. Every object has its form filled in information about presence of rampant, special parking space, lifts, etc.
The results of the monitoring will be taken into account by drawing up the Plan of activities for improving the infrastructure and quality of social and recreational services, and about 30 buildings will be reconstructed in future. Partners of the project expect that the document could be an example fot other Belarusian disrticts, who want to adapt infrastructure for people with disabilities.
